Role Overview

This is a high-ownership Individual Contributor (IC) role within the COO’s Office, focused on strategic sourcing, vendor ecosystem development, supply resilience, and cost optimization programs across manufacturing and operations.

You will act as the strategic and execution arm of the COO for all critical sourcing and supplier-side transformation initiatives — driving supplier onboarding, localization, capacity build-up, cost engineering, and supply risk mitigation across domestic and global ecosystems.

The role demands structured thinking, on-ground vendor engagement, negotiation capability, and the ability to move fast without compromising governance or quality.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Ecosystem

• Lead strategic sourcing programs for electronics, mechanical, plastics, and critical components
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers aligned to scale and quality requirements – In India, and globally. 
• Drive localization initiatives and reduce import dependency
• Build long-term supplier partnerships to support aggressive growth targets

Supply Programs & Industrialization

• Support NPI (New Product Introduction) sourcing readines
• Ensure supplier capacity ramp-up aligns with manufacturing expansion plans
• Partner with engineering teams for design-to-cost and value engineering initiatives
• Enable alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate single-point risks

Program Planning & Governance

• Own end-to-end sourcing program plans across multiple categories
• Track supplier readiness, tooling timelines, certifications, capacity ramp-up, and commercial closures
• Build dashboards / scorecards for cost, lead time, quality, and delivery metrics
• Run structured review cadence with suppliers and internal leadership

Cost Optimization & Commercial Strategy

• Lead cost benchmarking and should-cost modeling initiatives
• Drive negotiation strategy and commercial closure for strategic categories
• Identify cost-saving levers across logistics, BOM, packaging, and vendor consolidation
• Build business cases for make vs buy, vendor consolidation, and global sourcing decisions

Risk & Supply Resilience

• Identify supply risks across geographies, components, and partners
• Build mitigation strategies including alternate vendors, safety stocks, and dual sourcing
• Support cross-border sourcing initiatives when required

Execution & Leadership Alignment

• Act as COO’s sourcing execution partner for high-priority initiatives
• Ensure leadership decisions translate into vendor-side action
• Present structured updates on cost trends, risks, supplier performance, and trade-offs
• Align sourcing with manufacturing, engineering, finance, and operations teams

Preferred Background & Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain.
• Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems in electronics / industrial manufacturing
  Exposure  electronics components, mechanical sourcing, or industrial supply chains preferred
• Strong negotiation, commercial structuring, and cost analytics capability
• Experience driving localization, alternate sourcing, or cost transformation programs
• Ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams under aggressive timelines
• High ownership mindset; thrives in IC roles with real accountability
• Comfortable working with factories, suppliers, and on-ground teams
