We’re pleased to share that Kimbal has been recognised at the 7th Confederation of Indian Industry National Technology Competition 2026, receiving both Gold and Silver awards. 

• Gold Award – FPR Improvement

This platform brings together organizations across sectors to showcase how technology and Kaizen-led improvements can drive meaningful impact on quality, productivity, and overall business performance. 

Gold Award – Strengthening First Pass Quality 

This initiative focused on improving first-pass quality at a critical stage of our production process. 

The challenge was not immediately obvious. While test systems were flagging rejections, deeper analysis revealed that a significant portion of these were not actual defects, but inconsistencies arising from process variations. 

Instead of approaching it as a system-level issue, the team went back to the basics, observing the process closely, identifying the root cause, and addressing it with a simple but effective intervention. 

What changed 

• Standardised a key assembly step to ensure consistency  

• Introduced in-line checks to prevent variation  

• Strengthened process controls to avoid recurrence  

Impact 

• Improved first pass yield and process stability  

• Reduced unnecessary rework and inspection cycles  

• Better utilisation of production capacity  

This project is a reminder that meaningful improvements don’t always require complex solutions; clarity and consistency often make the biggest difference. 

Silver Award – Real Time SPM Automation Dashboard 

The second project focused on improving visibility and speed of decision-making in quality monitoring. 

Earlier, reporting processes were manual and time-consuming, which meant that issues were often identified after production cycles were complete. 

To address this, we developed a real-time automation dashboard that enables live monitoring of quality data and faster response to deviations. 

What changed 

• Automated data capture and reporting  

• Introduced real-time visibility across key parameters  

• Enabled quicker, more informed decision-making  

Impact 

• Significant reduction in response time  

• Improved control over quality variations  

• Shift from reactive to proactive operations

Both these initiatives reflect a shared approach, solving problems at the root and building systems that are practical, scalable, and sustainable.
