Kimbal at the 26th Regulators & Policymakers Retreat (RPR)

Kimbal was proud to be part of the 26th Regulators & Policymakers Retreat (RPR), a timely and important forum bringing together regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders to reflect on how India’s energy sector is evolving to meet Net Zero and Energy Transition goals amid a rapidly changing global landscape.

The four-day retreat provided a valuable platform to examine the intersection of geopolitics, climate change, power markets, and critical sectoral challenges, especially at a time when global uncertainties are reshaping energy security and policy priorities for India.

Representing Kimbal, Gurpreet Oberoi, Chief Business Officer, shared insights as part of a panel discussion on the role of Smart Metering in strengthening the distribution sector. The discussion highlighted how smart metering can enable greater efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness, while supporting DISCOM sustainability and improved consumer engagement.

Over four days, discussions spanned some of the most pressing themes shaping the sector today,

  • Geopolitics and Energy Security, focusing on global disruptions and their implications for India
  • Climate Change and Sustainability, with discussions on hydropower, pumped storage, and the water-food-energy nexus
  • Power Markets and Regulation, exploring market reforms, electricity derivatives, and VPPAs
  • Critical Issues in the Indian Power Sector, including transmission planning, BESS, demand forecasting, green hydrogen, and the role of AI & ML

The retreat was a powerful reminder that the energy transition is as much about collaboration and policy alignment as it is about innovation. We return with renewed conviction to continue building intelligent, future-ready solutions that support India’s evolving power ecosystem.
